A nine month South Atlantic patrol where she takes over from HMS Dragon ... so this should see her visit Cape Town \:D/ :smt023

Quote:
Type 23 frigate HMS Lancaster sailed from her home in Portsmouth on Saturday 21 March for a routine nine-month Atlantic patrol tasking, waved off by hundreds of well-wishing friends and family.

HMS Lancaster is the first ship in the Royal Navy to deploy with the new Wildcat helicopter, and her crew are wearing the newest naval uniform in 70 years. She also takes with her the first ever Royal Marine chef to ply his trade on the ocean waves rather than on dry land.

And indeed got a Wildcat patch for The Jacket...

It must be said that the Royal Navy sailors are a massively friendly & talkative bunch. Spent lots of time chatting to folks ... couldn't walk past anybody without them greeting & welcoming us aboard ... it was like something out of a Monty Python movie where the fish keep swimming round in circles & don't stop greeting each other

Mrs Kremlin however, was a tad upset that Lancaster wasn't selling any patches, she sadly pointed to the empty spot on her jacket that had been reserved for a Lancaster patch. But they didn't have any to sell so that was that ... after we disembarked & were walking back towards the jetty entrance, a sailor appeared out of nowhere, stated that he was happy he didn't miss us & gave her this Wildcat patch :smt023 \:D/ =D> :D

GO ROYAL NAVY :smt023

For comparison ... the cockpit of the Lynx HAS.8, which the Wildcat is now replacing.

I went on a booze cruise on tuesday and took some snaps in a slightly drunken state.

The crew didn't seem to appreciate me shouting "Shiver me timbers!" and then the ladies saw the sailors and well ya...I don't think we will be going to the Waterfront for a while.

You lucky swines down south. I'm really envious. You're seeing way more foreign hardware than we do here in GP    .

Really great pics from both sober and drunk photogs :smt023

Supersport had live broadcasts from Lancaster in the build-up to the Bok game as well as after the game. I think that was a real good idea! :smt023 =D>

The rugby was more of an afterthought ....

On Saturday evening, the Commanding Officer, Commander Peter Laughton MBE, hosted a reception on board for South African partners across Government, business, culture, sport etc. .... The British High Commissioner, The British High Commissioner, Judith Macgregor also attended the reception.
