Hi all

I am needing some help in trying to track down as much information for No 1 Squadron in WW2, which flew spitfires. I am wanting to build a kit of my late Great Uncle Maj DD "Snowey" Moodie. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated

See if you can find a second-hand copy of the book "Squadrons of the SAAF and their Aircraft: 1920 - 2005" by Steven McLean.

Thank you for the effort Doug. I am going to try find the book. I have my Great uncle's log book so I am sure with a bit of cross referencing I can work out which was his plane

chasmod...I think you better get building that Spitfire model soon because from what I am reading Maj DD Moodie was also in 4 Sqdn SAAF on Tomahawks and he was an incredibly successful fighter pilot downing a variety of Axis aircraft. There are some 3 references & action accounts of him in the book "War in the Desert" by Neil Orpen.
